YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH.

The youth are an economic force that can create demand for goods and services especially due to the growing digital economy in Kenya.According to article 260 of the constitution of Kenya,a youth is anyone aged between 18 and 34 years old.

Kenya has a relatively youthful population, and with this Kenya can do really well in the economic take-off if they find the correct formula to put to action the energy, creativity and entrepreneurship ideas that the young and energetic generation can offer.

It is known to everyone that after school, after attaining that degree, that diploma or even that certificate it is always another story on how to get employed in the field where a person specialised in. Honestly, there are no jobs.

So how can the youth help revive the economy of Kenya?

1.Through self employment.
Self-employment refers to working for oneself rather than working for a specific employer who pays them a salary. It is common in a variety of occupations, but one common theme is that self-employed individuals tend to be highly skilled in a specific area.

Self-employed individuals are considered to be running a business as an independent contractor, a sole proprietor, or a member of a partnership. In addition to income taxes, they need to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes in the form of a Self-Employment
Contributions Act (SECA) tax. The self-employed individual pays both the employer and employee portion of the taxes since their clients do not withhold taxes.
Currently, the self-employment tax is 15.3% as of 2020, and 12.4% goes to Social Security on the first $137,000 of earnings, and 2.9% goes to Medicare tax.

2.Exploring skills.
When you are done with college, no one is offering any jobs, what do you do with your expertise? Don't just sit and wait for manna to fall from heaven. Make use of your attained skill. For instance if you studied journalism, you can start with script writing, video editing, you can be a freelancer, put your skills to action.
With this, the government generates revenue through taxation.

3.Venturing into opportunities that require non or little capital .
Before you start: the first thing you must do is some basic market research. Find out for yourself, first-hand, just how many people will be interested in your proposed products or services, and would be willing to stand in line and pay money for it. Here are some opportunities that require little or no capital to start:

Consultancy services
Just think of any special skill in your possession , you can make a reasonable income from. E.g. marriage counseling, business consult, legal consult, property consultancy, educational consulting, media consultant, etc. One do not have to possess any capital to start consulting, just some contacts on your phone, email addresses and referrals from family and friends, you are good to go.

    House cleaning services.
Many home-owners and apartment dwellers will welcome help at "house cleaning'. Charge a flat fee for the amount of work that must be done. Make arrangements with firms that provide labour for tidying up office environment.

There are so many other opportunities that if the youth indulge in,they'll help revive the economy. The time is now. Let's put back the economy to it's favourable state.
